There has been a dramatic rise in news attention to medicinal cannabis in 2013, with reports on CNN, ABC, CBS, and local publications about high-cannabidiol cannabis oil effectively controlling the symptoms of rare epileptic conditions like Dravet syndrome, Doose syndrome, infantile spasms, cortical dysplasia, and more. These diseases can lead to seizures that range from hundreds to thousands per week. They also impact development in a variety other ways. It is a daunting task for parents of children with these conditions. Traditional pharmaceuticals can be ineffective due to Dravet syndrome and other related disorders. They often make the problem worse. Families are turning to high-CBD cannabis oil as a last resort. It has shown remarkable efficacy and is providing hope for many families.
High-CBD cannabis oils are non-psychoactive, and may be even more beneficial than high THC cannabis oils. Cannabidiol, another cannabinoid found in cannabis plants, is also being researched. It has been shown to have neuroprotective, anticancer and antispasmodic properties. Additionally, cannabis oil can be extracted from cannabis. Concentrated cannabinoids can be consumed orally rather than smoked. This preserves medicinal compounds and allows them more easily to reach the digestive system than the respiratory system.
The research suggests that CBD has panacea-like properties, and in practice, this is proving to be the case. Sanjay Gupta published a CNN documentary about Charlotte Figi on August 11, 2013. Charlotte was a Dravet syndrome young patient. She had 300 grand mal seizures per week. No pharmaceuticals or dietary changes could do anything to reduce this number. Charlotte’s seizures stopped immediately after Charlotte was introduced to high-CBD marijuana oil by her parents. She now has less than three minor seizures a month. This is a remarkable case, and it’s not an isolated one. Dr. Margaret Gedde of Colorado Springs is monitoring 11 new clients of the Stanely Brothers, who provide Charlotte’s high CBD medicine. Nine patients have seen seizures drop by as much as 90%, which is just amazing.
CBD is being shown to be effective against epileptic seizures. It is extremely difficult for pharmaceuticals to produce any healing. Yet high-CBD cannabis oil is immediately and potently reducing symptoms, with the only side effects being systemically beneficial – more energy, better learning, improved behavior, and more.
This is not surprising considering that such results have been around for years. As research has shown cannabinoids to be effective in controlling epilepsy, so too is the evidence of their ability to control other serious diseases and eradicate cancers. And in practice, for epilepsy and these other conditions, the results are translating to humans. Since years, people have successfully eliminated cancers and helped with other conditions such as diabetes and fibromyalgia. This is as serious as it gets, and more attention must be brought to this issue.
