Should you get a Kodabow or an Excalibur Crossbow for Sale?

With the recent surge in popularity for the Kodabow Crossbow, I think that there is now another contender for a quality recurve crossbows. Previously this market was almost completely taken by Excalibur Crossbow, but the last fe models from Kodabow have gotten peoples attention.

If you are in the market for a new recurve crossbow, then I am sure that many of your friends have told you that you should be looking for an Excalibur crossbow for sale. They have been around for quite some time now, and they have had very few hiccups in the road. I own an Excal myself, but there is a lot that can be missed out on because of complacency. Since it is just about time for me to get a new crossbow (I want another recurve) I thought that I would share with you, my top two picks in the recurve category.

Excalibur Crossbows

The first crossbow that I have to mention is (you guessed it) an Excalibur. My pick from their new lineup is the Matrix 380 Xtra. If I were hunting anything tougher than whitetails, then I would most likely get the 405 Mega. If I were bow hunting in New York then I would get the 330. What I enjoy the most about the 380 is that it is more compact than most of the other recurves on the market. Since I am generally hunting in areas where there is a lot a brush, smaller and compact is always best for me. Shooting this crossbow and the Equinox before it, I can definitely say that they have sold me on their craftsmanship.

Kodabow Recurves

Now, for the sake of argument, my next choice would have to be the Kodabow Bravo Zulu. I have always been a big fan of the AR-15 platform, so this seemed like it had the best shot to steer me away from Excal. While the crossbow does weigh in at a hefty 8 pounds, I will say that it felt very balanced around its mid-point. Another aspect of the design that I liked about this crossbow was that it has a split limb. When I compared it to a 200 pound draw weight solid limb bow, it did seem like it was a noticeably quieter. The best way that I could describe this crossbow would be “quiet and dependable.” It was accurate and felt very powerful.

While the Kodabow did show me a lot that I haven’t seen from the recurve market in a long while, I don’t know if it was enough to get me to look for anything other than an Excalibur crossbow for sale. I did enjoy the handling of the Zulu, but when I see split limbs, that automatically means more potential for something to go wrong. Call me old fashioned, but I have had good success with Excal. I wouldn’t deny a Kodabow if it was given as a gift, but I believe Excalibur will give me more bang for my buck.You can find more articles about crossbows here.
